“How Sweet the Sound” is the title for the Penticton Concert Band’s Winter Concert this year, a commemorative title for we are dedicating a piece titled How Sweet the Sound to a long-time member of the band who has recently passed: Marylin Barnay. Marylin played the flute, but then decided to take up tuba, as her son had played that in highschool band and well, why not!? Marylin loved all things musical and so do we all and that’s why we gather to play together.
This concert so close to Christmas will surely feature wonderful Christmas pieces that make the season festive, as well as tribute to Ray Charles and Mambo greats medleys. Let’s not forget something Irish and big and bold pieces that take you right into the movies. We won’t give it all away so please come all together and enjoy this concert we’ve been very busy preparing for you. Our concert band has 40+ talented musicians spanning all ages, from 13 to 83; We look forward to playing for you.
